Our Role

We promote the value of mentoring across the community, link mentors to organisations seeking volunteer mentors and we encourage volunteers to become mentors.

Mentor Training

Our mentor training program provides mentors and potential mentors with the knowledge and skills required for youth mentoring. To date, over 300 people have participated in one of our mentor training courses.
The courses aim to provide learning opportunities as well as support where needed. But don’t just take our word for it! We receive excellent feedback on our training programs, just take a look:
“I’m grateful for this course. It has empowered me and clarified my role as a youth mentor. I am full of confidence”. Sheelagh, Warners Bay HS
“One of the best courses I have attended – and I have attended a lot.” Barbara, Samaritans
Individuals can register for the courses that are currently on offer. However, organisations can also arrange with us to provide specific training for their mentors and youth workers. Please contact us today if you’d like to discuss this further with us.

Networking and Professional Development Events

Several times each year, Mentor Support Network members are invited to participate in our networking and learning events, where we invite expert speakers to present to us on a particular subject. Speakers may be practitioners, researchers or representatives of organisations providing youth support. All have considerable experience and expertise to share with our members.

These events are not just great learning opportunities, they also provide our members the opportunity to network and to build strong support structures.

For a full list of courses currently on offer by Mentor Support Network, please refer to our Events page.

Annual Celebration for Members and Supporters

A Celebratory Breakfast is held annually to celebrate the accomplishments of youth when supported by mentoring and (through scholarships) having access materials in support of their education.
