Student Achievers: Jodie and Benjamin

Jodie (2014 MSN Educational Scholarship) recently updated us on her education and career.

I’m almost 22 years old now and 4 years out of school. Since the program I have completed Certificates III and IV in Business Administration and Certificate III in Accounts Administration.

Jodie moved to Canberra almost 2 years ago and secured a permanent position as a Payroll Officer for Airservices Australia; a company which manages 11 per cent of the world’s airspace where there are more than four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers annually.

The scholarship made a huge difference in Jodie’s life: “I am very grateful for all that the Mentor Support Network gave me and it is so lovely to see this program is still up and running and supporting young students.”

Current student Benjamin was delighted to learn his funds could be used to purchase a desk to support his studies.

I originally wasn’t going to get a desk, I was just going to continue to use my bed but it makes me sit in awkward positions and so after already doing a lot of assignments for the year along with homework I’ve decided I need one for comfortability, appropriate work space and storage.

After a search on gumtree a suitable desk was found and Benjamin now studies in comfort. In his words: “I’ve had to do a couple of assignments already with the setup and it’s a massive improvement.”
