Mentor Training continues to be a very important component of the work undertaken by the Mentor Support Network.
We held our 2-day mentor training course in February and plan a repeat offering on May 19 and 26. In response to demand we will look to make additional offerings. If you are interested in mentor training (for yourself, a friend or members of your organisation) please contact us.
The February course was fully booked with 16 people from a range of organisations including Plan it Youth Hunter, PKF, Career Links and Hope2Day (participants are shown in the photo). We were very pleased to welcome three employees of one of our newest sponsors PKF Newcastle. We will now be working with them and our member organisations to identify opportunities for them to volunteer as mentors with young people.
The MSN Mentor Training course is highly acclaimed, receiving positive feedback from participants. We are very fortunate to have as our trainer, Julie Fraser, who brings a wealth of mentoring knowledge and experience to her role, ensuring that course participants are provided with a solid understanding of mentoring and have an opportunity to practise some of the skills required when working one on one with their mentee.
The venue for the MSN Mentor Training is Hexham Bowling Club which is a central location for all parts of the hunter and easily accessible. We thank the club for looking after us and providing assistance with room set-up and catering.
