2020 MSN Educational Scholarships Program

Applications for the 2020 educational scholarships will be opening soon – changes have been made.

Application criteria:The program is open to students 15 years and older who, because of financial hardship, are having difficulty achieving their educational and career goals.

Application dates:The opening date for receipt of applications is 22 July 2019.Applications will be received for the full duration of Term 3 and will close on 27 September 2019.

All organisational members of MSN are eligible to nominate students they feel will benefit from a scholarship.Nominators are asked to provide a letter of support for each student – this letter is essential in helping the applicant achieve an interview.To become an organisational member go to our website to download the membership form .

Interview dates:Student interviews will take place in the Newcastle CBD on November 4/5/6 2019. Those being interviewed will be given three questions in advance that can be practiced prior to the interview.There will be an additional interview question on the day.

Students selected to receive a scholarship will be required to attend an information session on 9 December 2019 and the scholarship presentation on 11 February 2020.

Mentors: Each student will be matched with a mentor who will be in contact with them throughout the year.The mentor will provide advice and support on how to make informed choices in the use of scholarship funds.All mentors will have undertaken mentor training and be approved to work with young people.Anyone interested in mentoring should contact Scholarships Chair Jane Kift at jane.kift@mentorsupportnetwork.com.au or 0418 431 646.
